Em2 Design – Mariana Betting Ferrarezi and Roberto Hercowitz Everything began in Barcelona, Spain, where Marian Betting Ferrarezi and Roberto Hercowitz were doing masters courses. She did it in furniture design at IED(Instituto Europeo Design), and he did it in Ecodesign at Elisava. In parallel with the studies, the duo resolved opening a design studio, the Em2 Design, and their furnitures and objects were placed in design shops in Barcelona and Madrid. In 2006, they returned to Brazil and settled in Rio de Janeiro, along with the same proposal to create products that combine utility and aesthetics. They enjoy the innovative design, conceptual and personality style , and also work with different materials, technologies and styles ranging from retro to contemporary, from playful to functional. They see it more as an opportunity to exploit the curiosity than as a strategy. They seek to develop projects using materials in a conscious way and trying to contribuit to the improvement of the quality of life, and that are targeted to close interaction, functional and emotional, between workpiece and user. While not forgetting to redeem the tradition, crafts and brazilian cultural identity. They have won awards competitions in Brazil and abroad, such as: IF Product Design Award 2011 with the Fago armchair, Honorable Mention in the Prêmio Salão Design Móvel Sul 2012 with Pixel Gabinet, 3º place in Salão Design Móvel Sul 2008 with the chaise longue Hamaca and finalists of the premium Top XXI 2009 and Design Award in the Museu da Casa Brasileira.
