KUMIKO Wood Screen

Lattice screen

Tanihata Co., Ltd.

Kumiko is a Japanese traditional wood-making technique in which the wood pieces are assembled without using any nails. The KUMIKO Wood Screen series is based on the ancient Asian 18-type auspicious design, handed down for hundreds of years. The craftsmen join the screens one by one; that adds classiness and a sense of warmth to the design when combined with "light." This screen series can be further expanded to the field of interior design by using furniture as doors, carpentry and lighting supplies. Available in three types are natural solid wood with sizes of minimum 300 x 300 to large 1,200 x 2,400 mm.

iF Gold Statement

In a society that continues to lean towards digitalization, natural materials and traditional craftsmanship affect our perceptions other serial products. These wooden lattice screens create a sense of privacy and atmosphere, combining perfection in wood processing with traditional Japanese patterns for a long-lasting product that retains its visual appeal over its lifecycle. A beautiful example of how tradition, design and technology can complement each other.
