The Moving Kitchen
Railway Restaurant
Taiwan Railways Administration
This is a 54-person restaurant. It sits on a moving track as it goes around the island of Taiwan. It allows the users to experience different local cuisines in a natural dining setting, one that connects with the surrounding scenery as the train moves around the tracks from 30 to 90km/hr speed. This is unique because Taiwan Railway Administration was only known for providing transportation from point A to B this train gives an opportunity for the 135-year-old government body to develop its own service brand for the first time, finding an alternative income source for the difficult future as it competes with the faster Taiwan High-Speed Rail.
