World-Food Waste Teahouse

Tea house pavilion

[World Food-waste Teahouse] is a series of Teahouse installations that is built with Food-waste material and designed to be positioned in different parts of the world. The project seeks to address the problem of abundance of food-waste across the world and propagates the investigation of using Food Waste as building materials. The project was developed with key motivations of Respecting Local Context, Universality and Circularity. 2 installations have been completed in 2023, VENETI-AN in Venice, Italy and ARABI-AN in Dubai, UAE.

iF Gold Statement

Any botanist will tell you that there’s no such thing as a weed, just a plant out of place. Similarly, what constitutes waste is entirely a matter of perspective. This beautiful lattice structure made entirely from food waste serves practically as a tea house and conceptually to provoke thought and discussion on the nature of waste and how best to manage it. Food for thought!
