K-WIR: Gender-sensitive teaching and learning spaces
Cross-media communication concept
K-WIR is a cross-media communication concept for raising teachers’ awareness of gender identity and sexual diversity in schools. It includes a learning game as well as print and digital media designed to inform and stimulate discussions. Trainee teachers are often unaware of the relevance of gender-sensitive learning spaces or do not feel knowledgeable enough to create them. K-WIR aims to generate understanding for and visibility of queer people, topics, and lifestyles by promoting self-reflection, empathy, and knowledge, ultimately reducing gender inequality and discrimination in schools.
The project takes an imaginative and effective approach to raising awareness of gender-based discrimination in schools.
WINNER STATEMENTWe are very honored to receive this award! It's great to see that the need for gender-sensitive teaching spaces is gaining greater attention. We would like to thank everyone who supported us, especially the queer students who shared their experiences with us.
