NEC Corporation

Conventional immigration and customs procedures for entering Japan required passengers to complete separate processes handled by different agencies operating distinct systems. NEC implemented UX design to support stress-free travel by connecting these procedures into a coherent user story covering the process from landing to entry into the country through one-stop information submission, gates using face recognition, and intuitive guidance. The holistic design approach takes separately-procured government systems and delivers a coherent passenger experience, connected through elements such as operability, aesthetics, and user flows.
